TEMPO.CO, Palembang - Palembang Mayor Harnojoyo confirmed that the Indonesian Military (TNI) will donate KRI Tanjung Nusanive to the city to be made as a supporting infrastructure for the 13th Asian Games in 2018.
Harnojoyo said that the Navy confirmed the decision when taking city officials on a cruise with KRI Nusanive during the celebration of the 72nd TNI anniversary.
“KRI Nusanive will be turned into a hotel on Musi River during the 2018 Asian Games,” Harnojoyo said in Palembang today, Oct. 5.
KRI Nusanive departed from a naval base in Tanjung Priuk on Tuesday to Merak Port in Banten. Included in the entourage were Palembang regional secretary Harobin Mastofa and other officials. The entourage was welcomed by KRI commander Lt. Col. Roptino at Tanjung Priuk.
About 1,000 students from across the country also participated on the cruise. The Palembang administration was the only regional administration invited to the cruise.
Harobin Mastofa said that the ship would be presentable for a floating hotel. He said that the ship would be able to accommodate 1,000 guests.
Palembang and Jakarta will host the 13th Asian Games next year. The event will become a momentum to promote local attractions. The city administration continues to develop several areas to be made as tourist destinations, such as Al Munawar Village, Kapitan Village, and Kemaro Island.
