TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Police have questioned six individuals over the throwing of a Molotov cocktail at the Myanmar Embassy in Jakarta on Sunday morning. Myanmar has been under pressure over acts of violence against the Rohingya people.
Earlier on Saturday, a group of people staged a rally at the Myanmar Embassy in Menteng, Central Jakarta, to protest against the acts of violence.
The police continue to collect evidence in relation to the case. They are currently examining the CCTVs installed at the embassy. No casualties was reported in the incident.
Reports said that the perpetrator rode a Toyota Avanza car. “We are investigating it. We are not yet sure whether the attacker rode a car or not,” Jakarta police spokesman Argo Yuwono said.
Following an early investigation, the police said that an unidentified man hurled an object at the Myanmar Embassy at around 3 am on Sunday. The police found a bottle oil and fuse. “It was thrown to the terrace and put out by a security personnel,” the spokesman said.
