Rohingya Tragedy: Govt Urged to Take Diplomatic Measures

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Nahdlatul Ulama Tanfidziyah Executive Council (PBNU) chairman Robikin Emhas stated that the government needs to take diplomatic measures to put an end to the tragedy inflicting Rohingya ethnic in Rakhine, Myanmar.
“In addition to humanitarian aid, government needs to take convincing diplomatic measures to stop tragedy of humanity against Rohingya ethnic,” Robikin said on Sunday (3/9).
He explained that based on the report from PBNU representative serving as a member of humanitarian mission, Indonesia is the only country that Myanmar authorities trust and give access to distribute and provide humanitarian aid to Myanmar. Robikinbelieves that Indonesia has to make the best of the trust.
“This is all based on humanitarian consideration, in line with the values of free-active politics,” he added.
Furthermore, he urged Indonesians to not get provoked and disrupt harmony in our diverse country.
