Sri Mulyani: Govt Will Strive to Achieve Economic Growth Target

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati said that the government will strive to achieve the economic growth target in 2018 set at 5.4 percent.

“To achieve the economic growth [target], the household consumption is expected to grow by 5.1 percent,” she said during a plenary session at the House of Representatives in Jakarta today, August 31.

Sri Mulyani added that the government consumption is estimated to grow by 3.8 percent. The government will focus on efficient and consistent spending that supports endeavors related to poverty alleviation and productivity improvement.

Sri Mulyani expects that investments will grow by 6.3 percent, which will be supported with the national main project development. The government will also launch policies to simplify regulations, accelerate and facilitate business activities, as well as business processes carried out by the government.

Exports are expected to grow by 5.1 percent following improvements in competitiveness and productivity through education and training provided for workers.

Sri Mulyani revealed that the government will also boost exports by tapping into new potential markets, in addition to empowering export-oriented SMEs and promoting tourist destinations in Indonesia.
