Eid Homecoming (Mudik): Jakarta Authority Form Security Pillars

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - In less than a week, a large number of Jakartans will temporarily migrate or mudik to their hometowns during the Eid holidays. This will leave their houses unattended and open the possibility of it being targets of criminal activities.
Jakarta Governor Djarot Saiful Hidayat said that authorities will prepare anticipative measures during the public holidays. The Indonesian National Police (Polri), National Armed Forces (TNI), and the Municipal police (Satpol PP) will become the three pillars of security measures.

“These three pillars will be spread out to patrol a number of regions that are considered to be dangerous,” said Djarot on Tuesday, June 20.
They will be tasked to record and monitor local neighborhoods. Djarot gave an example of certain areas such as Central Jakarta, specifically Johar and Tanah Abang.
Meanwhile, areas that will be secured in East Jakarta is the Pulogadung area.
