TEMPO.CO, Surabaya - The East Java Polices Criminal Investigation Corps arrested a sympathizer of the Islamic Defender Front (FPI) for allegedly insulting Jokowi. Besides President Joko Widodo, Burhanudin (20), also insult a number of National Police officers.
“The concerned person insulted the head of state and several National Police officers,” East Java Police spokesperson Sr. Comr. Frans Barung Mangera during a press conference day.
Barung explained that Burhanudin was arrested on Wednesday night, June 7, 2017, not long after he uploaded a photo on a Facebook account named Elluek Ngangenniie. The insults were posted in relation to pornographic chats case entangling FPI leader Rizieq Shihab.
To journalists, Burhanudin confessed that he edited and upload an image containing insults and slanders against President Jokowi, National Police chief Gen. Tito Karnavian, Jakarta Police chief Insp. Gen. M. Iriawan, and Jakarta Police spokesperson Argo Yuwono.
Rizieq is currently facing a charge for allegedly involved in smartphone chats containing pornographic materials with Firza Husein. Police have named both Rizieq and Firza as suspects in the case.
Barung hopes that the public will learn from Burhanudin’s case and think twice before throwing insults on social media.
