TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) militant group has claimed they are behind the attack on Jakarta's Kampung Melayu bus station on Wednesday night which killed three police officers and injured at least 15 others.
"The executor of the attack on the Indonesian police gathering in Jakarta was an Islamic State fighter," the group's news agency Amaq announced on Friday, May 26, Channel News Asia quoted.
Earlier, the Indonesian Police PR division chief Insp. Gen. Setyo Wasista said there are clues linking the Kampung Melayu attack and the bombing in Manchester Arena that happened a couple days before. The attack in Britain was also linked to ISIS.
The Kampung Melayu bombing becomes the deadliest attack in Jakarta after last year's terror in the Sarinah area in January, which killed eight people, four of them were the attackers.
