TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Central Jakarta Police chief Sr. Comr. Dwiyono said 500 kiosks in Blocks III and I of Senen Market had been razed by fire. There were no reports of injuries or casualties.
Dwiyono said that as of 8 pm local time, Central Jakarta Fire Department still attempted to extinguish the fire in Block III and parts of Blocks I and II.
Central Jakarta Police had deployed 400 personnel to arrange the traffic in the intersections of Senen Market and to secure the scene.
“The situation is under control and Jakarta Metro Police have sent reinforcement,” he said.
Dwiyono said police will launch an investigation once the fire has been put out.
