TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Former Jakarta Deputy Governor Djarot Saiful Hidayat said Basuki Tjahaja Purnama or Ahok wanted to meet Jokowi`s vice presidential candidate, Ma`ruf Amin, after he is released from the Mako Brimob prison.
"I want to meet Ma’ruf Amin once I'm released,” Djarot said immitating Ahok on August 16, during the launching of Ahok's book Kebijakan Ahok (Ahok's Policy).
The Chairman of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) Ma'ruf Amin was the one who issued a fatwa (edict) that Ahok’s statement citing the Quran's verse Al-Maidah 51, defamed Islam. Ahok was sent to prison over the crime.
Djarot said that Ahok still remembers regarding the impact of the fatwa issued by Ma’ruf on the blasphemy case that befell him.
“But he said that it was okay. They have no problem and the case was over. No problem,” Djarot said.
