TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Deputy Governor Sandiaga Uno said that the plan to rally by online ojek (motorcycle taxi) drivers during the Asian Games was canceled. Grab as the company has succeeded in persuading the driver partners to cancel the plan to hold a rally scheduled for August 18.
“Grab stated that the plan for the rally during the Asian Games was well anticipated and there was already a communication [between the management and the drivers], so that, God willing, there would be no rally during the Asian Games,” said Sandiaga at Djakarta Theater on Wednesday, August 9.
Sandiaga said the Asian Games must be held without interruption, including the rally by the drivers. He also believes that other online ojek companies will follow to cancel the rally.
“I see that all will have the same understanding not to impose their own will at this crucial time because this is a supercritical time for us to succeed the Asian Games. Don’t smear our faces," Sandiaga said.
Sandiaga also plans to contact the founder and CEO of the Go-Jek, Nadiem Makarim. Just like Grab, Sandiaga will ask Nadiem to cancel the plan to rally.
“I will try to contact Pak Nadiem, the point is that we instruct, there should be no rally and there would be no permission given,” said Sandiaga.
