TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Crescent Star Party (PBB) chairman Yusril Ihza Mahendra said he would meet with Gerindra Party chief patron Prabowo Subianto for talks on possible community coalition of four parties as suggested by Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) leader Rizieq Shihab.
“Hope [to meet] with Pak Prabowo in the near future,” Yusril told reporters today in Kasablanka, Jakarta.
Last week, Rizieq Shihab made a suggestion to National Awakening Party (PAN) honorary council chairman Amien Rais and Prabowo to form a community coalition of four parties comprising Gerindra, the National Mandate Party (PAN), the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS), and PBB during their meeting in Mecca on June 2.
Yusril said communication with related parties on the matter was still afoot, and that he had had talks with the three parties. “I’ve met with many figures,” he said.

Yusril viewed the recommendation as a good one. He said Rizieq had inputs that political parties could use for the sake of the people. “So, that’s more of a moral suggestion rather than an order.”
Yusril also asserted that PBB was an independent party that was not bound to anyone, and that it was open to a possible coalition that shared the same goals.“God willing, we will implement it and surely PBB will not disappoint the public, especially the Muslim community,” he said.
Yusril Ihza Mahendra went on to say that PBB would mull the possible coalition. “We will follow up the inputs on presidential and vice presidential candidates through honest discussions,” he explained.
