TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Java Integrated Industrial Ports and Estate (JIIPE) in Gresik, East Java, was officially opened by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) on Friday, March 9.

This port is expected to accommodate 183 industries from several sectors and attract investments valued up to Rp83.2 trillion.

According to Industry Minister Airlangga Hartato, establishing numerous companies in the integrated industrial area will boost the national and regional economic growths.

“There are currently eight companies that have made investments, and two them have operated. Meanwhile, the other two are still constructing their factories. The rest will commence their constructions,” said Minister Airlangga on Saturday, March 10.

The JIIPE area consists of a 1,761-hectare industrial zone, a 400-hectare port, and an 800-hectare housing complex.

The companies that have established their presence in the area are Clariant Indonesia, UnichemCandi Indonesia, Nippon Indosari Corporindo, Hextar Fertilizer, and Adhimix Precast Indonesia.

The industrial zone is powered by 13 megawatts of electricity supply supported by a gas pipeline connected to state-owned gas distributor Perusahaan Gas Negara (PGN). The industrial complex can accommodate companies from the automotive industry, heavy and palm oil based industries, and SMEs, which are expected to provide 500,000 jobs.
