TEMPO.CO, Medan - Center of Volcanology and Geological Disaster Mitigation recorded that Sinabung Mount in Karo Regency, North Sumatra Province has erupted more frequently in the past few days.
Center of Volcanology and Geological Disaster Mitigation of Sinabung Mount Monitoring Staf M Nurul Asrori said that until Sunday noon, Sinabung Mount has erupted four times. The eruption produced 2,000 to 2,300 meters of volcanic ash.
It is also recorded that Sinabung Mount erupted 11 times on Thursday (4/5), eight times on Friday (5/5), and six times on Saturday (6/5).
"It is still active because the status is Level 4 or on Alert,” he said.
Center of Volcanology and Geological Disaster Mitigation has implemented "red zone" or prohibition to enter in the radius of three kilometers.
Nevertheless, for certain sectors, red zone radius is extended due to the long range of hot cloud resulting from the eruption. The red zone is seven kilometers for south-southeast sector, it is six kilometers for southeast-east sector and it is four kilometers for north-east sector.
