TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Italian Navy Multirole Frigate, ITS Carabiniere, visited Jakarta on March 9 to 13. With 180 crews on board, the warship set sailed from La Spezia, Italy, on December 20 and has visited Saudi Arabia and Australia. It will head to Singapore, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Oman in a campaign to strengthen trans-regional cooperation.
Francesco Pagnotta, the Commanding Officer of ITS Carabiniere, said that they were carrying out naval diplomacy to strengthen relations with the countries they visited. “We’d like to cooperate with the navy and share our way of conducting our operation,” he said.
Pagnotta added that they wanted to showcase the Italian defense technology. The Carabienere, spans 144 meters, is a new generation antisubmarine warfare frigate with a modern combat system. “Italy is very well known for the food and culture, but Italy also has technology,” said Pagnotta.
The warship was moored at the JICT2 Pier in Tanjung Priok Port. It will be open to the public on Saturday, March 11, and Sunday, March 12.
