TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Chief Executive Officer of PT Citilink, Albert Burhan, decided to step down from his position on Friday, December 30, 2016. This step was taken after a Citilink pilot was reported to have been allegedly drunk moments before a Surabaya-Jakarta flight on December 28, 2016.
"Looking at the development of all this, and the repercussions from this [controversy], I feel responsible for it," Albert said on Friday, December 30, 2016.
Albert was not the only one who resigned from their position, Director of Operations at Citilink, Hadinoto Soedigno, also resigned together with Albert. “Myself and Pak Hadinoto filed our resignation from Citilink," Albert said.
Albert admitted that he has been having thoughts about resigning since the case occurred. Albert added that he had discussed his intentions t with Citilink shareholders, and will provide his written resignation later in the future.
"The decision may be for the better for Citilink in the future," Albert said.
Vice President Corporate Communication at Citilink, Benny
S. Butarbutar, says that Albert's decision showed the severity of their workload and the safety standard conducted by the airline industry. But Benny also said that Albert's decision is not yet final.
"The decision depends on the shareholders, [whether] they will accept it or not," Benny said.
