TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Builders Association Regional Executive Board (BPD Gapensi) Papua chapter will step up the region’s infrastructure development in a bid to boost the economy.
“Gapensi will certainly push for infrastructure development to address infrastructure problems in Papua, particularly roads and birdges,” said the chairman of BPD Gapensi Papua chapter Erick Wally in Jayapura, as quoted by Antara news agency.
“It must be a development priority to tackle distribution problems,” he added.
Erick Wally has lauded President Joko Widodo’s policy, noting the government’s commitment to developing Papua.
“After President Joko Widodo took office, infrastructure development in Papua has been given more attention despite state budget cuts to infrastructure [spending],” he went on.
