TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta administration has signed the '30:30 Commitment' aimed at reducing energy and water consumption, and carbon emission of buildings in Jakarta up to 30 percent by 2030. The commitment is a follow up to the issuance of Jakarta Governor Regulation No. 38/2012 on Green Building.
Jakarta Governor Basuki "Ahok" Tjahja Purnama said that currently, 260 building managers with a total land area of almost 15 million square meters have showed their compliance with the regulation.
"The number is equal to the total potential of reduced greenhouse gases of 605,000 metric tons per year, a potential energy saving of over 850,000 megawatt per year and electricity saving of up to US$68.3 million," Ahok said at Jakarta City Hall on Wednesday, September 14, 2016.
Ahok explained that the green building principle focuses on energy and water efficiency, indoor air quality and waste management, implementation of construction project, and operational management. One of the green building pilot projects is the Daan Mogot low-cost flats.
In an attempt to fulfil the commitment, Ahok will oblige government buildings and flats to comply with the regulation. Ahok also expected the private sector and developers to take part in the efforts to reduce energy, water consumption and emission by 30 percent.
In addition to the 30:30 Commitment, the Jakarta administration also established the "Jakarta Green Building Implementation Grand Design", which will serve as a reference for stakeholders in achieving synergy to fulfil the commitment.
