TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Defense Minister, Ryamizard Ryacudu, claimed that the resolution of the hostage situation in the Philippines is more complicated, compared to the fake-pasport Hajj pilgrims.
Previously, President Joko Widodo and President Duterte of the Philippines discussed the two issues in a bilateral meeting.
Ryamizard added that Indonesia has asked the Philippines to prioritize the release of the hostages, held captive by Abu Sayyaf militants. But he underlines that the process is not a mere bilateral cooperation.
"In the Hajj case, we can simply discuss it. As for hostage situation, we need to talk it out to Abu Sayyaf," said Ryamizard.
The retired Army General also praised Duterte's effort in saving the hostages. "The Philippines has deployed 10,000 troops to help free the hostages and crush the rebels," he said.
