TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Low-cost airline Citilink Indonesia plans to open a flight route to Papua on October 2016, as a means to expand connectivity to the Eastern part of Indonesia.
President & CEO of Citilink Indonesia, Albert Burhan, said that the route will be one of Citilink's priorities this year - especially in developing domestic connectivity. "This is an important step for Citillink to expand connectivity. Aceh and Papua will be connected with Citilink,” he said.
Albert said that the incoming route will be from Jakarta to Jayapura, both indirect and direct flight.
He is optimistic that the flight has potential in harnessing both passengers and cargo. "We have completed feasibilities study. Jayapura has passenger and cargo potentials," he said. "We continue assessing the route, and working to realize it."
