TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Tourism Minister Arief Yahya extended his appreciation for the opening of new flight routes from six Chinese cities to Manado on Monday, July 4, 2016.

Arief said that the most important factor in achieving success in the tourism industry is the commitment of regional heads. "If regional heads are committed, tourism industry will grow rapidly," Arief said in a press conference on Tuesday, July 5, 2016.

Arief stated that regional heads' commitment can be seen from how they prioritize their resources and budget for the tourism sector.

One of the new flight routes, Macau-Manado, begins its maiden flight on Monday, July 4, 2016, transporting as many as 205 tourists from China. In addition to Macau, the new flight routes will connect Shenzen and Shanghai with Manado.

Lion Air has set a target of transporting 30,000 Chinese tourists to Manado until the end of the year by providing affordable tour packages.
