BNPB Tells Karo Regent to Vacate Red Zones Near Mt. Sinabung

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Head of the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) Willem Rampangilei has instructed Karo Regent to take quick measures to vacate the red zones (Gamber village, Simpang Empat district and Karo Regency) to protect the poeple from the hot clouds from the eruption of Mount Sinabung.
“We also told them to increase patrols, safeguarding the people and dissemination about the eruption,” Willem said on Sunday (22/5).
Willem added that the danger posed from the eruption of the mountain does not only come from the eruption and hot clouds but also from the floods of cold lava due to the eruption. According to him, volcanic activities of the mountain are still high.
Willem added that the potentials of eruption of the mountain is still big and the eruption will be accompanied by hot clouds form the east, south east and south of the mountain.
DANANG FIRMANTO
