TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The police estimates there will be some 50,600 workers from various regions celebrating International Labor Day in Jakarta on May 1, 2016, and will be announcing their 9 demands.
Those demands according to a release from Metro Jaya Police Department includes:
1. Rejecting Presidential Decree No.78 – 2015 on Wage
2. Increase minimum wage by 30% in 2017
3. Change the needs of decent living (KHL) to 84 items
4. Support the Statute on People’s House Savings (TAPERA) for workers and citizens
5. Reject the implementation of ASEAN Economic Community
6. Reject unilateral layoffs
7. Reject cheap wages
8. Reject the premium increase on BPJS Health
9. Reject criminalization on worker or laborer activists
Workers will convey their aspirations at the Horse Statue, National Palace, Gelora Bung Karno Stadium and Public Works and Transmigration Ministry.
To secure the protest, the authorities will deploy about 16,800 joint personnels.
