TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Toll Road Management Agency (BPJT) of the Public Works Minsitry expressed its optimism that the trans-Java toll road construction can be completed on target in 2018. "That is the instruction given by the President, then we have to [make it happen]," said Kornel M.T. Sihaloho, Chief of Supervision and Monitoring at the BPJT Secretariat on Tuesday, April 19, 2016.
Kornel admitted that currently, the construction of the Pemalang-Batang and the Batang-Semarang part of the toll road is being hampered by land acquisition problems.
Based on the Public Works and Public Housing Ministry data, around Rp 921 billion of the total Rp 1.4 trillion land acquisition budget has been spent. On the contrary, land acquisition process for the Pemalang-Batang section had only been completed 9.34 percent, while land acquisition process for the Batang-Semarang section had only been completed 20.5 percent.
Nevertheless, Kornel said that the toll road project will still be continued. "There are lands that have been acquired, we can start from there," Kornel said.
