TEMPO.CO, Surabaya - Surveillance and Customs Service Office of Juanda Airport Customs and Excise Agency (KPPBC) in Surabaya, successfully foils an attempt to smuggle 1,620 grams of crystal meth into Indonesia. The narcotics were brought by a passenger of Air Asia flight AK-362 flying from Kuala Lumpur to Surabaya.
Head of KPPBC of Juanda Airport Iwan Hermawan, said that suspect is an Indonesian citizen with the initial NH (36 years-old), who is a resident of Sampang, Madura. NH was apprehended at the Juanda International Airport on Monday, March 7, 2016.
"The suspect concealed the crystal meth at the bottom of his luggage," Iwan said. Officials started to feel suspicious of NH's goods after an x-ray scan.
NH attempted to smuggle the drugs by disguising it as a part of the luggage. "This is the third smuggling attempt in 2016 at Juanda Airport," said Iwan.
