TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Franky Sibarani, head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), said that actual investment in the labor-intensive sector in 2015 was down by 12 percent.
It was the only sector that posted a downtrend as other sectors posted positive achievements.
"For instance, investment in the food industry was down by 18 percent or Rp43.5 trillion," Franky said on Thursday, January 21.
Last year, the BKPM recorded Rp545 trillion worth of realized investments, comprising of Rp179.5 trillion domestic and Rp365.9 trillion foreign investment.
The figure is above its initial target of Rp519.5 trillion and represents a 17.8 percent annual increase from 2014's achievement.
