TEMPO.CO, Depok - A chemist from the Chemistry Department of the University of Indonesia, Agustino Zulys, created a a device capable of absorbing haze from the air. The device is aimed to reduce haze effects in Riau province.
“This device is called Smoke Absorber. The device can only be applied indoor,” said Agustino at the University of Indonesia, Depok on Friday, October 9.
The device is consisting of suction pump and tube that contains smoke absorbing substances zeolite and active carbon. Agustino claims the device work in a quite simple way.
“It’s simple, the pump will suck the smoke through the inlet hose into the tube that contains smog- or smoke- absorbing substances, which is zeolite. The smoke will be absorbed by zeolite and active carbon, so that the output air is clean air,” Agustino explained.
Agustino reveals a plan to make the device portable in the future. It is said that the University will work together with the government to make the device in mass production.
