Ahok Declares Jakarta as Age and Dementia Friendly City

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Basuki "Ahok" Tjahaja Purnama have declared Jakarta as Age and Dementia Friendly City on Friday, September 11, 2015. The declaration was done by the governor along with officials of the Jakarta administration. The event was attended by Executive Director of Alzheimer's Disease International Marc Wortman.
Wortman expressed his appreciation towards the Jakarta Provincial Government, which considered being consistent in increasing public awareness of Alzheimer. The government of Jakarta has been providing facilities to support various activities related to increasing public awareness on Alzheimer. Information related to Alzheimer has included as one of the materials delivered during student orientation in junior high schools, high schools and orientation of retired government employees. The Jakarta provincial government has also provided 10 videotrons to broadcast information on Alzheimer symptoms.
Another Alzheimer awareness campaign that is being conducted by the Jakarta government is replacing the original National Monument lights with purple color lights throughout September to commemorate Alzheimer. In addition, a series of events will be held on September 27, 2015, to commemorate the World's Alzheimer Month.
