TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has launched the "Regional Elections (pilkada) with Integrity 2015" as an effort to address money politics in pilkada.
"KPK attempts to help implement a clean and honest pilkada," said KPK deputy chief Adnan Pandu Praja on Monday, August 31, 2015.
Adnan said that the KPK decided to take part in promoting a clean and fair pilkada because the event is considered to be important in deciding the future of the country. Regional leaders that will be elected will decide whether Indonesia can be free from corruption or not.
KPK will conduct information dissemination activities related to the program in nine provinces and two regnecies, including West Sumatera, Jambi, Bengkulu, Riau Islands, Central Kalimantan, South Kalimantan, North Kaimantan, North Sulawesi, Central Sulawesi, Surabaya City and Bandung Regency.
"For information dissemination activities, we will make VCDs about how to hold pilkada with integrity and free from money politics that will be distributed to all stakeholders," said Adnan.
KPK's data showed that there have been 61 corruption cases that involved regional heads in the provincial level or regency level. Adnan hoped that in the future, people will choose with integrity so that elected leaders will also have integrity.
