TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Democrat Party spokesperson Didi Irawadi Syamsuddin said that his party supported President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo’s plan to reshuffle his cabinet. According to Didi, the reshuffle is necessary since a number of ministries have yet shown favorable performance.
“There are issues related to the country’s economy and football,” Didi said in a discussion on Saturday, June 27, 2015 in Jakarta.
Didi revealed that his party has built a good relationship with the government and was ready to provide Jokowi with positive inputs and advices. However, Didi denined that his party is targeting ministerial positions in Jokowi’s cabinet.
“[Ministerial] positions are not our priority. The most important thing is to build this country together,” he claimed.
If Jokowi was to realize the cabinet reshuffle, Didi asked Jokowi to be selective in appointing new ministers.
Earlier, Vice President Jusuf “JK” Kalla confirmed Jokowi’s plan to conduct a reshuffle in the Working Cabinet. JK said that he and Jokowi would conduct an assessment over ministers to be replaced. However, JK declined to reveal their names.
