TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo said that he will announce the name of the new Indonesian Armed Forces Joint Chief of Staff that will replace General Moeldoko. Jokowi emphasized that the appointment of a new Joint Chief of Staff is his prerogative right as the president
"We will announce it soon," said Jokowi on Monday, June 8, 2015. "I need to emphasize that it is my prerogative right [to pick the name] as a president."
If the President chooses to use the rotational replacement system, the new Joint Chief of Staff should be appointed from the Indonesian Air Force, namely Marshall Agus Supriatna. However, Coordinating Minister of Politics, Law and Security Tedjo Edhy Purdijanto, the rotation system is not obligatory and stated that the final decision is in the hands of the President.
