TEMPO.CO, Banyuwangi - A state-owned construction company, PT Nindya Karya, had recently finished the construction of the Blimbingan Airport new terminal in Banyuwangi on February 2015. Initially, the project, which was funded by the East Java Regional Budget and the Banyuwangi Regional Budget, was supposed to be completed by December 2014.
According to Banyuwangi Regent Abdullah Azwar Anas, the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) instructed PT Nindya Karya to pay Rp 5.8 billion to the state for the late charge. "That is the latest examination result from BPK," said Banyuwangi Regent Azwar Anas on Monday, May 25, 2015.
During BPK's examination, PT Nindya Karya also failed to fulfill several provisions of the initial project contract including, providing materials for the airport’s roof and wooden lattice.
PT Nindya Karya had only paid Rp 4 billion on Friday, May 22, 2015. The BPK has provided a 60-day deadline to complete the payment until July 2015. If the company exceeds the deadline, the company would be sentenced with criminal charges.
