TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Ansor Youth Movement Malang (GP Ansor) chapter initiated an effort of detecting radicalism, including the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), following an arrest of an ISIS supporter identified as Achmad Junaedi in Malang.
“All cadres [of the Ansor Youth Movement] are instructed to initiate an early detection against radical movement,” Hasan Abadi, the leader of GP Ansor Malang chapter, said on Saturday, March 28, 2015.
GP Ansor and Nahdlatul Ulema (NU) youth wing Ansor members were instructed to coordinate with local leaders and law enforcers. The members were also deployed to spread Islamic peace messages from the Nahdlatul Ulema.
“They are also agents to spread peace messages for all of us,” Hasan said.
According to Hasan, religious figures in the city were also called on to spread the true teaching of Islam religion based on the Quran and hadith to prevent religious radicalization.
Earlier, the national anti-terror squad (Densus 88) arrested Achamd Junaedi, along with Helmi Alamudin and Abdul Salim Munabari in Malang, for being suspected as ISIS supporters. Junaedi had military trainings at ISIS’ Camp Harary in Syria.
