TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Basuki "Ahok" Tjahaja Purnama said the name of his new deputy governor candidate will be submitted to the Home Affairs Ministry next week on December 1 or 2 because Ahok is still waiting for the presidential regulation on the mechanism to appoint deputy governor.
“The regulation will be issued this weekend,” said Ahok on Tuesday.
According to Ahok, the regulation will be issued 15 days at the latest after he was appointed as governor on November 19 by President Joko Widodo. The deputy governor will also be appointed by the president or home affairs minister.
Ahok declined to mention the name of his deputy governor candidate. He had already told several times about the ideal criteria for his deputy governor.
First, the deputy governor must have working experiences in regional government so that the deputy governor can immediately understand the problems in the capital city. “I want a deputy who can work fast.”
Second, the deputy governor must work hard and has clean track record, which means the deputy governor must not have any interest of a party or a group that can become obstacle in later days.
Ahok said there are at least two versions of mechanisms for appointing deputy governor. The deputy governor can be nominated by a party or Ahok can select a deputy governor that meets his criteria. “I’m waiting for the ministry first,” said Ahok.
