TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Head of Jakarta Industry and Energy Agency, M. Haris Pindratno, said that the Jakarta Administration is planning to make prototype of gas-fueled power plant to replace electricity supplied by the State Electricity Company (PLN). The machine, according to Haris, will be used to power the Town Hall and Legislative Council (DPRD) Building.
“We will try at the Town Hall as a start,” said Haris when contacted on Saturday, November 15.
Haris explained that the plan was prompted by the high electricity load PLN should provide to supply power to shopping centers, buildings, and administrative offices. He said that one third of national electricity requirements is allocated to Jakarta. The number is believed to continue growing.
Still according to Haris, the power plant will be able to supply 15 to 20 megawatt electricity. Town Hall complex and DPRD building alone would need seven to eight machines. Haris claimed that the project has been included in the 2015 regional budget worth Rp300 billion.
