TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Following an earthquake that hit North Sulawesi province, Maluku province, and Gorontalo province, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) in the sideline of the G-20 Summit in Australia, phoned Home Affairs Tjahjo Kumolo, State-owned Enterprises Minister Rini Soemarno and State Secretary Minister Praktikno to give instructions concerning measures to deal with the impacts of the quake.
Cabinet Secretary Andi Widjajanto said that President Jokowi instructed the ministers to immediately coordinate to take measures to tackle the impacts of the quake; one of them is related to the power cut.
"President Joko Widodo instructed State-owned Enterprises Minister to coordinate with State-owned Electricity Company (PLN) about power cut in those regions," said Cabinet Andi said.
Tjahjo Kumolo and Praktikno held a meeting at the office of the Ministry of State Secretariat to discuss measures to address the impacts of the quake.
As previously reported, according to the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), the earthquake measuring 7.3 in Richter scale on Saturday hit Sulawesi and Maluku. The center of the earth was located 132 kilometer to the northwest of West Halmahera, North Maluku province.
