TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Culture and Elementary and Secondary Education Minister Anies Baswedan said he would distribute Indonesia Smart Cards (KIP) soon. KIP will replace the function of Assistance for Poor Students (BSM) so that the government can focus in the KIP concept “KIP has a broader concept,” said Anies on Thursday.
According to Anies, his ministry is currently preparing and finalizing the shift from BSM to KIP. “Like BSM funds that have not been disbursed and other problems,” he said.
KIP will be given to children of school ages in the poor family category. “They will use KIP in the future,” said Anies.
Data from the National Team for Accelerating Poverty Reduction (TNP2K) will be used to select who are entitled to KIP. “So far, they have the most ready data,” he said. However, assessment and discussions are stil required, he added.
