TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - In welcoming the free trade in 2015, Jakarta's Manpower and Transmigration Department will increase the supervision of companies which employ foreign workers. Later on, important positions in those companies are forbidden to be taken by foreigners, as reported by Antara News.
"The supervision against foreign people starts next year," said Priyono, Head of Jakarta's Manpower and Transmigration Department, on Saturday.
Priyono explained that there is a regulation which regulates positions in a company. Not every position can be taken by a foreign worker. "In the Human Resorce Department for instance, foreign workers could not fill in the position," he uttered.
At this time, there are 4.7 million active Indonesian workers in Jakarta. 400,000 people are listed as job seekers during January to September 2014. "The data could change in the end of this year," he added.
To assist the job seekers, Jakarta's Manpower and Transmigration Department keeps running training programs in every existing training centers in Jakarta. "We could train five to six thousand people per year. There is a computer assembly training, welding, cookery, and business management," explained Priyono.
