TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Democratic party of Struggle (PDI-P) secretary general Tjahjo Kumolo said the cooperation with the United Development Party (PPP) established during the election of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) speaker is not just temporary and will continue.
The PDI-P fully leaves it to president-elect Jokowi regarding the ministerial positions that the PPP will receive. "It is up to the president-elect," said Tjahjo earlier today.
Yesterday, Jokowi hinted that he would give the ministerial seats to the PPP after the party joined PDI-P coalition during the MPR speaker election. However, Jokowi gave no clue about which PPP cadres to be in his cabinet nor the number of seats given to the PPP. "If they join, they would get the ministerial seats," said Jokowi.
Tjahjo said PPP’s support was important to strengthen Joko Widodo-Jusuf Kalla government in the next five years. The PDI-P is also flexible in seeking coalition partner depending on the political constellation changes. Tjahjo also doubted the solidity of the SBY-Prabowo-Aburizal coalition, which has become an opposition. "I'm not sure if the Prabowo-SBY coalition that dominates the DPR and MPR will be effective."
Tjahjo said to have no problem with the dominance of SBY-Prabowo coalition in MPR and DPR speakership since it would not disrupt Jokowi-JK government. "The election of MPR speakership is democratic," he added.
