TEMPO.CO, Makassar - Maj. Gen. Bachtiar, the Wirabuana VII Regional Military Command chief, said his troops were set to assist the South Sulawesi Police in battling motorbike gangs in the province, which had perturbed public order to the extent of brutally murdering locals.
“We are ready to help the police eradicate these motor gangs as they had begun to take public casualties,” Bachtiar said at his headquarters in Makassar, Tuesday, September 16, 2014. He added the motor gangs had become more atrocious and even had the audacity to assault law enforcers.
Separately, the South and West Sulawesi Police chief, Insp. Gen. Anton Setiadji, has welcomed the army’s decision to help the police combat the motor gangs, adding that clampdowns against them would be launched by the Makassar Police and the Makassar Military District Command.
