TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Jakarta Governor Joko Widodo has asked consortium PT Jakarta Monorail to revise th basic and engineering designs (DED) of the monorail project due to some weaknesses in the current designs.
“Especially on elevated stations. I’m still not convinced,” said Jokowi on Wednesday, adding that PT Jakarta Monorail has not detailed and described the technicality of the monorail project design.
One of the concerns is the pillars that support the stations. Jokowi understands that the solution to limited lands in the capital is to build elevated stations, but PT Jakarta Monorail has not been able to give clear depictions of the pillars.
“The position, thickness, height and number of the pillars,” said the president-elect.
As a result, the change in design must also be accompanied with calculation on the funds for the project, which has also been requested by Jokowi.
Jokowi said new means of transportation were extremely needed in the capital and the monorail could hopefully be one of the solutions. “But I want the concept to be clear first,” he said.
