TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Former Chief of Muhammadiyah, Ahmad 'Buya' Syafii Maarif, had expressed his concern when visiting West Sumatra in June, saying there had been lies about presidential candidate Joko 'Jokowo' Widodo. Even worse, Buya said the black campaign was using the state's facility. "I was furious," said Buya Syafii, without revealing any names.
Buya said that one of the misleading propaganda was calling Jokowi a non-religious man. Other than spreading lies, the propaganda also relied on intimidation and money politics. "The people embrace it [the money]."
In order to set the story straight, Buya then travelled to ten spots in West Sumatra, denying all the allegations towards Jokowi. However, he said that his trip to West Sumatra was not as Jokowi-JK campaign team. "This is a matter of saving the nation."
