700 African Illegal Immigrants Breach Spanish Border Fence

TEMPO.CO, Melila - Around 700 illegal immigrants from originated from Africa were detained by the Spanish authority after rushing toward border fences between Morocco and Melilla on Thursday, May 1, 2014.
According to Associated Press, around 140 migrants successfully entered the Spanish territory by jumping off barbed-wire fences and caused injury to 12 police officers, while five illegal immigrants were rushed to the hospital.
The migrants charged the border in two waves. The first wave, which consisted of 500 people, arrived on Thursday. The second wave with 200 migrants arrived four hours later.
By Thursday afternoon, around 150 migrants remained perched on the outside of the fence, still trying to force their way in by fending off police officers. The immigrants burned their clothes to be used as weapons while the police deployed pepper spray to force them down from the six-meter tall fence.
