TEMPO.CO, Yogyakarta - 'Fighters' was the title of the three-panel relief among 20 being exhibited at Bentara Budaya Yogyakarta, starting from April 10 to April 17. The reliefs were made by young artist, Adek Dimas Adjisaka, who carried the theme of "Netra"(blindness) for his solo exhibition.
One of the reliefs reflected a carving of human body wrapped by a white cloth from head to ankle. The body gesture inside the cloth indicated the human was struggling to break free from the wrapping. The two other reliefs depicted similar human struggle despite different carvings of each.
"This is an illustration of the blind people who rise against their limited abilities," said Adek, who made some of his works based on the experience of Robin, a man who lost his sight after excessively having consumed narcotics.
The Lecturer of Visual Art Faculty of Indonesian Institute of Art Yogyakarta, said Adek had been a young artist who loves to experiment, including doing the social assistance to bring the lives of blind people into his art works.
