TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Deputy Governor Basuki 'Ahok' Tjahaja Purnama said that he is considering to use smaller 'capsule' cars for Jakarta’s new metro system.
Ahok is currently reviewing a business plan submitted by the car's manufacturer, which he refuse to name. He said that the capsule model is more cost efficient and carries more passengers than a larger carriage.
"Much like the technology at Changi Airport. I think Wika can built that," he said.
Jakarta Governor Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo said that a metro capsule would be much cheaper than the monorail, but dismisses suggestions that it would replace the troubled monorail project.
