TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Metro District Police of Pademangan have arrested Timotius Hengky Santoso, 57, for running a fake pregnancy clinic in Mangga Dua Square, North Jakarta.
"The MO is that the patients are promised to become pregnant," said Police Commissioner Andri Ananta yesterday. The patient is asked to come 14 days in a row.
On every visit, the patients are given Hengky's special potion. After the 14th day, patients are asked to bring a urine sample, and after it is analyzed, it was deemed positive for pregnancy. However, after the patients checked to a doctor, the result is negative.
There are hundreds of patients a day visiting the clinic and paying Rp200,000 on each visit. It is no surprise that Hengky manages to collect Rp18 million out of the 'business'. The money is then used to travel abroad.
Hengky is charged with violating Article 378 of the Criminal Law on fraud with a sentence of 4 years maximum prison time.
