TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Since January 27, PT Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) Jakarta and project contractors have been busy relocating gas pipes planted under the pavements in front of Ratu Plaza. The project is targeted to be completed by February 17, 2014.
“We are removing the pipes from our excavation site,” PT MRT Jakarta’s construction director Muhammad Nasyir said on Thursday.
Gas company PT Perusahan Gas Negara, as the utility owner, assists PT MRT Jakarta in the relocation. “We are thankful to PGN for being proactive in this relocation,” Muhammad said.
In order to avoid inconvenience to pedestrians and aggravating traffic conditions, the relocation is carried out from 10 pm until 5 am.
“We expect people to be careful when passing the project site and to observe the traffic signs we have set up,” Nasyir said.
Jakarta Deputy Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama previously said that one of the obstacles in MRT construction is Jakarta’s chaotic underground. Some trees have also been cut down to make way for MRT.
