TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - As many as 35 videos of short movies chosen by Independent Curators International (ICI) is being screened at the Platform 3 Gallery, Bandung. The screening is being held for a week starting from January 14 until 19 under the title of 'Project 35 Volume 2'.
The short movies from around the world bring up various issues and ideas. Indonesian curator Rifky Effendy presented a film by Indonesian artist Prilla Tania from Bandung entitled Space Within Time Series. Tania's acts were captured in a series of photographs that further compiled into a motion picture. "The pictures in Prilla's film was purposely made in black and white for simplicity and contrast," said curator and exhibition official Heru Hikayat on Thursday.
The screening is open every day starting from 10:00 local time at Jl. Cigandung Tengah Raya No. 40. The similar events were held previously in several countries starting from December. Indonesia has signed up to be the member of ICI network starting this year through Rifky Effendy's effort. "The films reflecting the current art video development in the world," said the curator.
Several curators who participated in the videos' selection are Leeza Ahmady, Meskerem Assegeud, Daina Augaitis, Defne Ayas, Regine Basha, Sun Jung Kim, and Nat Muller.
ICI is based in New York, United States, and was established in 1975. The community's main agenda is to hold exhibitions, publications, and workshops throughout the world.
