TEMPO.CO, Rio de Janeiro - The Brazilian Police have succeeded in capturing 10 people linked to a narcotics case in an anti-narcotics police raid on Tuesday. During the raid, police shot four suspects who were resisting arrest.
Xinhua reported the operation involving around 200 police officers and the military was based on several warrants issued for the arrest of 30 suspects in the narcotics case in Maceio, the Capital of Alagoas.
Armed with two helicopters and complete tactical artillery, police managed to capture five adults of the age of 18-32 and five teenagers. Meanwhile, four suspects, including a woman, got wounded after a shootout with the police. She died on her way to the hospital.
During the raid, police managed to confiscate a number of weapons, drugs and cash money. Brazil is notorious for being the drug dealing capital of the world. According to the CIA World Fact Book, Brazil is the number two consumer of cocaine in the world and it’s the main exporter of drugs for Europe.
