TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Deputy Governor Basuki "Ahok" Tjahaja Purnama stated that 2013 state budget absorption will not reach the targeted 97 percent. It will reach even less than 90 percent.
"I thought it could catch up to 90 percent, but some has given up," Ahok said at his office on Monday, December 23, 2013.
Jakarta provincial budget for 2013 is Rp49.9 trillion. Until early December, the budget absorption had only reached 55.2 percent.
Ahok then said on the report that he received today, budget absorption has reached 70 percent. "The reason is clearly because bad contractors don't finish their jobs," Ahok said.
Those contractors, Ahok said, have been offered to finish the projects next year or be ready to be fined. "Some contractors even chose to get fined," uttered Ahok.
