TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Joko Widodo attended the launch of the "Jakarta, a Children Friendly City" on Monday, June 24, in the Cinta Kasih Tzu Chi apartment complex in Cengkareng, West Jakarta. The event was also attended by the Minister of Women Empowerment and Child Protection, Linda Amalia Sari Gumela.
In the event, the government Jokowi gave out the KJS. But, the KJS he was giving out does not stand for Kartu Jakarta Sehat (Jakarta Health Card). This was another KJS, which stands for Kartu Sepeda Jokowi or Jokowi's Bicycle Card. Yes, the governor was giving out free bikes for Jakarta kids. "As usual, I will be giving out bikes," said Jokowi in his speech.
The Bicycle Cards are made of the governor's signed business cards which can be traded with bikes. Hundreds of kids surrounded Jokowi as they couldn’t wait to get their hands on the cards. Jokowi also distributed 300 books and school bags.
"I finally have a bike," one of the children who received a bike said excitedly.
In the occasion, Jokowi also requested Jakarta's Mayors to provide special facilities for children, such as playgrounds, public spaces, internet access, and libraries.
